Android is the operating system on many smart phones (the other major frameworks are iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and WebOS/Palm). We specialize in mobile development for Android. The Nexus One, Droid, Cliq and Hero are all Android phones. Every major American carrier has phones powered by Android.
Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to begin developing applications on the Android platform using the Java programming language.
Banandroid is a Digital Construction initiative to enter into the exciting world of application development for Android. We have already completed a project in Android for a customer (using the NDK!), and are in development on several projects that will be sold in the Android Market. Although we have chosen to concentrate our expertise with Android we are open to all mobile development projects including tablet work. We have been developing phone applications since last century (really!) across many platforms.
Digital Construction was at the 2010 and 2011 Google IO events, held each year in May in San Francisco, CA. We had a great time! We learned more about the tools that Google has for developers to better serve our clients. We dove deep into Android, Google Wave, Google App Engine, Google TV, Chrome, Google App Engine and cloud development.
In 2009 we did client work involving an open source NDK project for the Android platform. NDK stands for Native Development Kit (it involves a more challenging development skill set for a commensurate performance benefit than typical Java Android programming) In 2010 we released a business productivity tool designed for Android mobile devices on the Android Market for a client. In the first half of 2011 we did our first client work for the tablet form factor. Here is a list of skills and experience we have: Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, NDK, Canvas, OpenGL, Runkeeper API, MapMyFitness API, http libraries, SOAP, custom UI elements, Augmented Reality, Aurasma, Vuforia, SQLite, Push Notifications, etc.
A list of bullet points from recent presentations relating to the last three years of experience for Mark Scheel.
