Mark Scheel, president of Digital Construction was at the first ever Avery IPA's and API's beer hackathon in Boulder, Colorado held June 10-12, 2016. Held at Mondo Robot it featured over 20 super talented teams that each built amazing beer related apps, Virtual Reality experiences, chat bots and more.

 

Team Beer Mug Emoji took first place with friends old and new. The Android app called Mystery Flight paired with a backend service, gamified beer education and aimed to save bartender time, a precious commodity at the always busy Avery tasting room! Judges included Avery employees, and local tech experts including a former Googler and a directory for Women Who Code.

 

First prize included many cases of beer, gift cards to the Avery Brewery retail store, and a magic Willy Wonka style ticket good for beers every day for a year, as well as tickets to special Avery events throughout the year.
