February 1, 2014 - Speaking at WearablesDevCon

February 1, 2014 -

Mark Scheel, president of Digital Construction will be speaking at WearablesDevCon in San Francisco, CA this coming March. He will be presenting with code about Google Glass, wearables, robotics, and Raspberry Pi.

This event described below will happen on March 5. 2014.

Wearable Hacking with Raspberry Pi, Google Glass, Motors and Camera

Lets build a remote control camera together!

In this tutorial session I will take you through the process of creating a remotely controllable camera that can pan and tilt with the movement of your head, even if it is thousands of miles away.

This year I was part of a team from Colorado that won a national hackathon event in Las Vegas, NV.  I'll tell you how we did it, and set you up to re-create our robotic accomplishment.

Soldering, Unix configuration, GPIO and I2C programming, Android development, adjusting UI's and preparing projects to run on Android and Glass are just a few of the many challenges we will review.

When you leave this class you will be able to go to an electronics retailer, spend a couple hundred dollars and have your very own remotely controllable camera that you can direct with any device that has movement sensors: a smart phone, Google Glass, or any wearable that might come out in the future.

For maximum edification you should come with an Android development environment ready to go, if you have Google Glass you should set up the Glass GDK as well.

Two remotely controllable pi-camera robots will be available to test your code against.
