September 1, 2013 - Fall Speaking, Android Parallax

September 1, 2013 -

It's shaping up to be a busy fall for Digital Construction with a crowded speaking schedule. President of Digital Construction Mark Scheel will be covering Google Glass, what it's like to be a Glass Explorer and how to program for Glass using the Mirror API and Glass Development Kit (GDK). He will also talk about Android testing techniques and ways to use Android tools expertly.

In September Mark is back for the second year of Denver Startup Week. Mark is organizing a panel of Glass Explorers, and interest is high. The venue was over 90% capacity within weeks of the announcement and is currenty over capacity. This event will take place at the Block building on Wednesday September 18, 3-5PM. It will feature Mark Scheel, Hussain Chinoy and Rebecca Lee. Combined they have picked up Glass in San Francisco, Mountain View, and New York City, and have snowboarded, been on NBC News and been backstage on Broadway with their Glass. There will be tons of interesting content and crowd questions will be encouraged.

Mark will be headed south to the Big Android BBQ in October. Held just outside of Dallas, TX it has become one of the premier Android events held annually. This year it will be October 10-12, 2013 and will feature a session by Mark Scheel titled "Expert Android Testing". Tickets are still available.

Mark will be heading west to San Francisco in November for AnDevCon. AnDevCon is the largest American Android training event. It will be held at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. Mark Scheel will be teaching two sessions, one on Expert Android Testing and another about Google Glass titled "OK, Glass, Let's Explore" covering technical content spanning the Mirror API and GDK development. Mark will be joined as a conference speaker by Android experts from Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter, as well as Reto Meier, the Android Developer Relations Tech Lead, and Google I/O highlight machine, of Google.

This fall Mark will have two articles professionally published by Pearson Publishing, the parent company of McGraw Hill. One article is in pre production and the second is in the final editing stages. "It was a pleasure writing these articles and working with the professional staff at Pearson, I had a lot of fun putting together these technical, education articles, it combines two of my passions: writing and teaching, and the staff including the professional editing team really made the process easy." said Mark Scheel, president of Digital Construction. The content of the articles will be revealed in a future release due to contractual obligations.

Finally, Digital Construction has been playing around with Parallax, a dynamic motion technique, that will be featured prominently in iOS7. We have created a sample application for clients that are interested in bringing dynamic motion to their Android apps, and its available now and backwards compatible. "I love this technique, it is great for list views to make static data come alive for users. I love that Android has such a sophisticated layout manager, customizable adapters, and hooks into the positioning of views on screen, which makes it possible to delight users." said Mark Scheel, president of Digital Construction.
