June 1, 2011 - Android Honeycomb Development Lab

June 1, 2011 - On the heels of a successful California trip to Google I/O 2011 Mark Scheel is pleased to announce that Digital Construction is continuing its commitment to Android development with the introduction of a Honeycomb Development Lab.

The lab involves study and practical application of mobile development techniques that support both tablet and phone form factors in the Android ecosystem.

A project for a progressive yet very large national company is wrapping up as the first tablet project to come out of the lab.  It truly takes advantage of the compelling features of Android tablets utilizing live camera support, location modules and a specialized interface.  The interface utilizes fragments and customizes itself for both tablet and phone form factors.

The project is available now for private demonstrations of our firm's capability in this area.

With the announcement of Honeycomb being in the next generation of Google TV, we are also ramping up efforts to be development leaders for that platform.

It is a very exciting time for Android developers with improved development tools,  devices and a growing (huge!) audience.  We are thrilled to be early adopters of this influential technology.

Mark will be at the Boulder Android User Group meeting on June 15, 2011, at the Google Boulder campus, at the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship Business competition on June 16 in Denver and participating in Bike To  Work day on June 22.  Mark recently completed a 5 country bicycle tour of Northern Europe.  He enjoyed Swedish Fish in Stockholm and Danishes in Copenhagen and was particularly impressed with the technology community in Estonia.
