August 1, 2010 - Digital Construction delivers Data Wrap, RETS-ATOM proxy in Python

August 1, 2010 - Digital Construction completes project work on Data Wrap, a RETS-ATOM proxy written in Python, commissioned by the National Association of Realtors.  The project has been under way since early 2010.

Data Wrap abstracts the complexity of RETS (Real Estate Transaction Standard) away from the end-user and presents an easy to use ATOM interface that can be easily viewed in all modern browsers as a feed.

Data Wrap allows for enhanced RETS functionality not present in the standard.  Searching across multiple property types is a snap, thanks to the easy to use configuration files.  Results are combined before presentation to the user.  Data Wrap allows users to search multiple MLS systems.

"Data Wrap was an exciting project for us, I think it is a great idea and a clever use of technology to make something that would traditionally be difficult, quite easy.  This project demonstrates the leadership role Digital Construction enjoys in the industry with Real Estate data aggregation.   We are the foremost experts in combining disparate sources of data for the benefit of the Real Estate professional" said Mark Scheel.

"This thing is fricking awesome" said an anonymous beta tester during early rounds of testing in Chicago, IL.

The Data Wrap project invovled breakthrough use of screencasting and video technology to enhance project management.  This activity complements a "local touch, national reach" philosophy and is the progression of a 2010 initiative for the company to serve clients across the United States while exceeding lofty customer service standards.

Data Wrap will be released as an open source project later this year and can be customized for use by Multiple Listing Services, Brokerages and Realtors ®.
